Tourism Minister meets with WestJet Airlines and Canadian Tour Operators

Tourism Minster, the Honourable Stephen Cadiz, on Sunday met with representatives from WestJet Airlines who, along with Canadian travel agents, tour operators and media, arrived in Trinidad on Friday onboard the inaugural WestJet Flight to Port of Spain.

The meeting, facilitated by the Tourism Development Company Limited, followed a full day of activities for the group, including visits to various hotels, sites and attractions as part of the company's objective to support this flight by educating the travel trade and press.

At present the Canadian market accounts for approximately 12 percent of all visitor arrivals into Trinidad and Tobago. This new service will go a long way in supporting and enhancing the TDC's ongoing efforts to increase arrivals to Trinidad and Tobago from Canada.

WestJet Airlines on Monday announced the introduction of a new daily, non-stop service to Trinidad and Tobago from Canada. The new WestJet service will arrive at the Piarco International Airport at 6am and depart at 7am and provide travellers with additional seats at competitive fares.
